Ballyhoura Day trip.

23 members headed for the brave new world of the Ballyhoura’s on Thursday the 25^th. The walk was just over 10km with a mixture of forest track and open moorland, we only had one area of boggy ground up to the summit of Seefin but it was worth enduring for the splendid views as far away as Killarney and the Comeragh’s. Caher Castle hotel provided us with well earned refreshments and dinner on our return journey.

Mary’s contour cake went down a treat and proved she was paying attention last month.

St Patrick’s Day Walk.         Thursday March 17^th.

Sliabh na mBan led by Brian Wickham. Departing from Park Hotel at 1300hrs and Supervalue Car Park in Carrick-On -Suir at 13.40hrs. Post walk, we will repair to the grounds of Kilcash Castle for picnic and then to Keoghs Pub for further refreshments and maybe a

" Sing Song". Don't forget to wear something green to celebrate our Patron Saint!!!

T Shirts

We are in the process of ordering some T shirts/Polo shirts with the club Logo.

Samples were at the club night and the quality is great, the retail price is estimated at €25

B Walks

Due to pressure of work Tony has had to retire from coordinating B walks.

Peter Mangan has kindly offered to cover the job until the AGM.

If you would like to be a B walk coordinator please contact Richard.

Navigation course

We now have dates for our beginners guide to navigation. It will consist of two evenings at 8pm on Tuesday the 26^th April and Wednesday 4^th May, also two half days on the hill to be decided by the group. A booking deposit of €10 secures a place. See Tony Fitzgerald.

Take care when out walking this time of year, it is exceptionally slippery and wet under foot at the moment and also with snow and high winds, it makes the easiest walk quite a bit harder.

Walks are usually 4 to 6 hours. C Walks are about 3 hours. Inclement weather is likely to extend the time of all walks. Hillwalking is an adventure sport and not devoid of an element of risk. To minimize risk, be prepared: waterproof boots, rucksack, waterproofs, a packed lunch, hot drink, warm hat, gloves etc.  Mountaineering Ireland (MI) recognizes that participants in Hillwalking should be aware of and accept any risk and be responsible for their own actions and involvement                                    REMEMBER NO BOOTS, NO WALK
