report 29th May 16
A group
of 13 B walkers including 4 guests from Fingal Walking Club started in the High
Car Park at Mahon Falls From
there we climbed Comeragh Mt. to spot height 668m and followed the ridge
overlooking Coumtay and the 7 Sisters on left. We
crossed Coumfea to a beautiful view overlooking Lough Coumfee /Coumalocha.
Countinuing on to 730 and again fantastic scenery of Nire Valley /Squilloges
Lakes with Knockanaifreann in the distance. We stopped for lunch at a small
stream where more suncream was needed. From here up to 750 and across to The
Boola Cairn and then crossed an almost dry Uisce Solas on the way back to
Coumshingaun Lake before continuing on to 792 . Crossed Mahon Falls on top and
handrailed round overlooking pathway into Falls before finally descending
Comeragh Mt. and back to cars.
A fantastic clear day to be able to showcase our beautiful Comeragh Mts. and Lakes To the Dubs. Michael Daly

Tom
Crean Walk. 12 walkers from Club went to Anascaul for the annual Tom Crean walk. All
started great and then the rain fell all day. After we reached the top of Mount
Brandon, we could see nothing until the finish but it was a great weekend and
enjoyed by all there.
Trip to
Tip. Dick and Helen Wade led a tip-top day out in Tipp on Thursday 16 June.
15 walkers took part in the 11km walk around the Dolmen Loop in the Galtys. We
stopped for a picnic at Shrough Dolmen, where Elizabeth Twohig spoke about the
history of this ancient structure. The walk took 3.5 hours and the weather held
up. Afterwards, the walkers enjoyed a well-earned meal in Cahir House Hotel and
dessert was a dolmen-shaped cake, made by Elizabeth Twohig.
